It snaps in snugly, just like the original, but with an actual length of 6' 6". This is the cable that should be shipped with iPads from the factory. Buy with confidence.

A longer charge/data sync cable is something many consumers need. Apple has yet to produce such a product and I doubt they ever will since they haven't to date. Thus, this leaves consumers with a hole in the market ecosystem in which we must seek out a third party product.

Enter Belkin, backed and sold at Apple retail stores. The cord appears to be of good quality, perhaps even sturdier than Apple's own cords. The flaw in the design is that the cord is unable to securely stay connected to the 30-pin device. A little movement and the cord has already discharged its power supply and is either half way or all the way out of the device. This proves frustrating to constantly keep pushing it in.

Also, of note, I had a problem with the USB staying connected to an Apple wall adapter. This happened only one time. The connection was "loose" even though it wasn't. I unplugged the wall adapter and the cord and reconnected everything. It hasn't happened again. (This was two weeks ago.)

I've had this charger six weeks.

  • What good is a cord that won't stay connected

I agree with those who say it is a waste of money. I don't need the constant stress of a poor cord connection.

This one is I have a lot of trouble with the Apple cables with the casing on the cord part breaking open and exposing the wires. This one is much sturdier. But as others have said, it can look like it's inserted properly, but it's not charging. So must always double check it's connected properly and charging. Having said that, I'd rather that problem than the cord casing splitting and exposing wires, as I have had several Apple cables do.

I agree with the reviews that say the cable looks good but does not end up working well - that was my experience.

The cable its I agree with the reviews that say the cable looks good but does not end up working well - that was my experience.

The cable itself is sturdy but does not sit properly, so you might leave you phone overnight charging to find in the morning the phone dead because it doesn't sit in the socket well.

A shame because it's a solid cable but I just ended up buying an Apple one - I don't want to change my phone and set with my alarms with the expectation to be woken in the morning, only to have the alarm not go off because the phone is dead.

1 star from me, David. And that's for the cable's strength (which may be its weakness).
