    Awesome!!!

    • Written by from Fort Stockton

I purchased this product about a month ago. I just got into cycling and i wanted something that would help me keep track of my rides. The two magnets that come with this: one is placed on the spoke of the back tire and the other is placed on the crank arm so you will have to remove pedal on your bike to get it in place. Setup is easy. Wahoo also has a Bluetooth Heart Rate Chest Strap that works in unison with these other sensors. You can even upload your ride data to other apps such as Strava. Definitely 5 Stars!!! First available Bluetooth Smart bike sensor!

    • Written by from Waterloo

A terrific little gadget for the avid cyclist. The only sensor currently available that uses low-energy Bluetooth Smart, so that the sensor battery should last over a year. Uses a standard replaceable watch battery inside. It is waterproof and mounts solidly, so it's fine for both road and trail use. The only problem is that the magnet and rubber loop for the sensor will not fit on larger-diameter aluminum mountain bike frames with thick crank arms and chainstays. Also, it has a slight tendency to be tilted by a fraction of an inch during use or transport, which may cause loss of sensor readings and require a quick re-adjustment. But overall, a must-have accessory. Works great with Cyclemeter. The speed reading is much more accurate than GPS. More

Positive feelings, though MapMyRide does not support

    • Written by from Washington

I agree with others that this is a slick device that is easy to use. Wahoo has a free app that lets you track your ride and upload to other online tracking sites, as is mentioned in the description. The only drawback for me that I hope will be remedied soon is that my (former) MapMyRide app did not connect to the Bluetooth sensor. I suspect MMR might be preparing their own sensor to sell, but it could just be the new Bluetooth connection. Just a heads up if you plan to keep using MMR on your smartphone. I still think MMR is the superior ride mapping site, though it currently takes several steps of exporting and importing to get my Wahoo rides onto it. More

    Speed sensor problem

    • Written by from Belleville

it detected the cadence sensor, but not the speed sensor. I tried everything to make it work, but no luck; even took the magnet and passed it by the sensor every way possible and still nothing. I called apple and they quickly raised a UPS return label and about 10 minutes later I got an email letting me know that a new one was comin my way. Hopefully this one works fine. Kudo to apple for their service, but not so much Wahoo for a lack of quality control. More

Like the product but doesn't fit Specialized Roubaix

    • Written by from Amsterdam

The Wahoo sensor is well made and integrates well with the Wahoo app, unfortunately though I could not fit it to my Specialized Roubaix. The oversized carbon fibre chain stays meant that there just isn't enough clearance for the magnet and the sensor arm to be able to pass each other. At best I need I think it needs at least another 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

I've given them a 4 star rating as I believe that if it fits the bike then it would be a great product and obviously catering for every bike manufacturer is always a difficult task.

I'm on my second unit with the same issue. Speed sensor will not work

    • Written by from Fort worth

I moved to this unit from my ANT device since the iPhone 5 bluetooth is pretty reliable for my fitness devices. I use the heart monitor and the Blue SC device from wahoo. I can get the cadence to work but the speed arm doesn't. I even removed the device and did the manual test by moving the magnet over the notched area on the arm using the wahoo utility but to no avail the speed doesn't record. I purchased a second unit to see if the first unit was bad, changed everything out but still the same results from all the test; cadence works fine but the speed arm doesn't. I will contact wahoo to see if my lot number is from a bad manufacturing batch. I've installed over 4 of these types of devices so I understand how to line everything up. More

Your speed and cadence as measured by the SC will be recorded in Cyclemeter. Your GPS location will also be tracked on the map in Cyclemeter because the GPS still keeps running. This is the best possible combination. The speed measurement from the SC is much more accurate than what is computed from the GPS. All of this happens automatically as long as your SC is correctly paired. The other stats like stopped time, average speed, etc. are all determined from the SC's speed measurement by the way. As a tip, also get an external Blueooth GPS for your iPhone like the Dual GPS to save battery life. Look it up. More

  • Answer

There are different fitness apps like Cyclemeter that need to be actively running to record the speed and cadence data from the sensors while you're riding, so that you can view it on a graph or export it. But if you don't have your phone with you during the ride, the sensor itself will at least keep track of the total distance travelled and can then update Wahoo's own odometer app the next time the phone and sensor communicate again, but nothing more detailed.
