Ratings & Reviews

  • Extremely handy external battery while on-the-go

    5.0 out of 5 stars

A superb external battery for the iPhone and iPad. Charges at 2.1 A, so it's as fast as an iPad wall charger. The casing is metall ic and rubber and looks expensive and sleek. It can charge two devices at the same time, and has a few lights to show the remaining charge. It's a bit bulky but fits easily into a bike saddle bag or something similar. The capacity is 6000 mAh (the highest sold by Mophie) so it should be able to charge an iPhone 3 or 4 times, and that's consistent with my experience. However, the phone needs to be in sleep mode during charging or else it'll eat up the battery capacity a lot quicker. Does not support pass-through mode. Also offered in a ruggedized waterproof version from Mophie directly, although this one tolerates splash damage.

  • Disappointed

    1.0 out of 5 stars

Wasted my time - 1 star for looks, weight and 'concept'.

Unfortunately, it's not functional...currently on 4 hours for an iPa d2 - Mophie's about to run out of JUICE and iPad's only at 60%. Bought for a Euro trip and was really hoping for the best - But not to be....it's going back today...

Not sure what the 2nd port is for when it can't even get one done??!

First of all I think people must be made aware that an iPad has approximately a 11,600 mah battery and iPhones have approximately 1440 mah batteries, while the mophie has a 6,000 mah battery. Also, battery to battery transfer of energy works best when the charging battery is lowest and gets worse as the charging battery fills up. So at most you're getting 50% charge out of an iPad and 4 charges on an iPhone. However that assumes 100% transfer which you can't get. If you want this to work best wait till your device is about 20% battery and plug it in for an hour. That should get you to about 80% + and you can do it about 7 times. If you try to go from dead to full you might get about 3 maybe 3.5 times. If you know the capacities and have realistic expectations this works great.

  • Additional time on ipad 3rd gen

    2.0 out of 5 stars

I purchased this to extend my time on my 3rd gen ipad.

When my ipad got to 5% of battery life remaining, I plugged it in and o nly got an additional 2:23 of life, until auto shutdown turned off my ipad, and that was with the screen brightness reduced to 50%.

Additionally, If your ipad battery fully discharges and automatically shut itself down, it takes about 6 minutes after plugging in the juice pack before you can get it to turn back on.

As someone else mentioned..... its ok if you know its limitations, but don't expect too much from it.

  • alright

Initially purchased keyring model it DIDNOT charge my smart phone, soooo back to Best Buy it went, exchanged for this device, I'll call MJPP. It charged my smart phone overnight, but was completely drained.

MY SUGGESTION: charge you smart/cell phone to 100% and MJPP too before leaving home. when phone is at aprox 50% use MJPP to charge to 100%. recharge MJPP in the car if you can. will it charge your Ipad, I have my doubts.

it comes with a cable that you can plug into the same plug that an iPhone/iPad or similar device has . just as with almost all electronic devices these days from cell phones to tablets, etc, most plug 'heads' have a USB port so that you can remove the cable and insert any viable plug.

*NO plug is provided with the device. you must use your own plug from your phone or tablet, etc. This really isn't too big of a deal considering you already have one, or else you wouldn't need the portable battery pack :) an extra is nice though so that you can power 2 devices simultaneously

also, most Mophie portable battery pack devices use a cable that has a Micro-USB head on one end, and a regular USB head on the other... the micro USB connects to the device, the USB connects to a plug

charge is rather slow, but that's only because your charging 6000mAh! (mAh standing for a unit of measure for certain types of batteries, more below). for example, one brand new iPhone5 battery is 1440mAh, and you are charging something that is over 4 times that... so its basically like charging an iPhone5 four+ times lol..

however, the great thing about the Mophie chargers is that since the amperage output is higher than what you would have if you were connected to a regular electrical outlet, the device you are re-charging charges at a faster rate.

    mAh:
An ampere-hour or amp-hour (symbol Ah, AHr, A·h, A h) is a unit of electric charge, with sub-units milliampere-hour (mAh) and milliampere second (mAs). One ampere-hour is equal to 3600 coulombs (ampere-seconds), the electric charge transferred by a steady current of one ampere for one second.[1] The ampere-hour is frequently used in measurements of electrochemical systems such as electroplating and electrical batteries. The commonly seen milliampere-hour (mAh or mA·h) is one-thousandth of an ampere-hour (3.6 coulombs).

Yes. It will charge any device that has a USB cable. The iPhone 5 is USB to lightning.

    Question 1
you will need a special plug to re-charge the Mophie Battery pack depending on what coun try you are visiting, just as you would any electric device.

as far as the Mophie charger, it doesn't matter what device you are charging AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A CORD THAT HAS A USB PLUG ON ONE END.

you simply plug your cord from your device into the Mophie charger, and then connect that to whatever device you are intending to charge. the pain here is needing different cords with you to charge whatever device(s) you bring along with you. then not forgetting them when you arrive home and plug them back into the wall.

Mophie portable battery packs do not come with plug heads, only the cord. since you already have one, they forgo it considering it probably saves money and time for them. and they know you already have a plug, because you wouldn't need a portable battery pack charger if you didn't have an electronic device! lol

    Question 2
per your plane question, that isn't really a clear question. Did you mean:
can you charge the Mophie Pack ITSELF while on a plane? yes of course if they have a regular outlet just like and other place. (but most planes don't)

    or did you mean:
Can you charge your device WITH the Mophie Charger while on a plane? yes. i did over 4 different flights. any phone or tablet doesn't have to be on to be charged. one stewardess asked me if i had shut off all of my electronic devices because she saw my Mophie Pack charging my iPhone next to me... and i told her yes, i was simply charging my phone while in flight, and neither device is "on".

there is no On/Off switch for the Mophie charger Pack because its just a battery, that's all.
