Answer
u do not need any other keyboards for Chinese, like those language "specific" ones, and simply hit the rigth-upper corner "eject" key. dada! u have the choice to use pinyin or traditional Chinese characters, by touching that globe-symbol key on the virtual keyboard on the screen.

Are there more than one model of the wireless keyboard produced by apple in the last two years?
- Asked by Noor Q from Salisbury

Best Answer
YES; well sort of.
Apple released the current wireless keyboard (Model number: A1255) in (I believe) 2009, however this is a revised (but cosmetically identical) version of the previous model (A1314) which was released in (again, I believe) 2007.
The only difference between the old and new revised model is that the old model required 3xAA batteries and doesn't work with handheld devices like the iPad and iPhone, due to it using a different bluetooth signal I think?
The current model only requires 2xAAs and does indeed work with iPhones, ipads and your Mac/PC.

How easy is it to pair this keyboard with multiple devices?
I'd like to be able to use it (at different times) with a MBP, iphone or ipad. I'm wondering if that's easy to do (say by simply toggling bluetooth on and off on each device), or if the keyboard would only let itself be 'paired' with a single device at a time and if I'd have to go through a re-pairing process every time I changed.

Whilst the keyboard can be paired with multiple devices (for me an iPhone, MBA and iMac) it is occasionally problematic. You have to remember to switch off bluetooth on (or at least disconnect) the devices you don't want to type on. If you do forget all that happens is that halfway through typing the keyboard stops, or in other cases while starting a device you find you cannot type a password for example.

I would like to upgrade to a wireless keyboard and mouse, but will soon be switching to a Mac. If I buy the keyboard now, will it work on my PC? I don't have Bluetooth, but I can buy a USB dongle and add it pretty easily right?

Is there a key board for the I Pad Mini. What size is it?

Just to clarify, the keyboards from Apple are Bluetooth, not WiFi. The Apple Wireless Keyboard does work with iPad Mini. Hard to get precise dimensions on the net as people report different sizes and don't use metric, which means that they are generally less specific. 15 x 5 inches-ish seems to be about average from what I can see. Now why don't Apple just list the dimensions on the product info page?! Would also be nice if dimensions info posted was in metric!

Bluetooth Impact on iPad Battery Life?
From the reviews I'm reading, I think I would prefer the Bluetooth keyboard to the keyboard docking station, but I am curious what kind of impact having the Bluetooth on all the time has on the battery life of the iPad between charges.
If the battery life is cut from 9 hours to 5, for example, it may not be worth it (I have used cell phones that Bluetooth cuts battery life almost in half).- Asked by Craig W from Elmwood Park

Thanks for your response. I did end up getting it, and did some testing (I'm using it right to to reply to this, actually) and I am VERY pleased over all.
Excellent response and feel.
Lightweight, small and thin, but extraordinarily easy to use.
I kept the iPad on for 24 hours with the Bluetooth turned off and hardly used it at all. At the end of the day I had 98% battery life left.

I kept the iPad on for 24 hours with the Bluetooth turned off and used it off and on all day - not excessive use. At the end of the day I had about 76% battery life left.

what is difference between Wireless Keyboard 184/A and 184/B?
What is the difference between the wireless keyboards 184LL A and 184LL B?
- Asked by Steven Z from Hendersonville
- 15-Nov-2011
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
VH's answer is inaccurate. First, all Apple wireless keyboards take AA batteries, not AAA. The other inaccuracy is that 184LL/A and B both take two AA batteries (not three). Three AA batteries were the model previous to 184LL/A. The B model replaced the A in mid 2011, but I do not know what the difference is. I would guess it is some kind of update to the bluetooth standard, as the A model has been shipping since 2009. And models A and B are the same size and shape and have the same features (power button, etc).

Autocorrection with the wireless keyboard?
Very interested in buying the Wireless keyboard... But does it allow the auto correction as does the iPad when I type on its keyboard.
If I've chosen the French keyboard, it'll autocorrect my French mistakes.
If I've chosen English, it'll autocorrect also, but in English.
That's so amazing that I regret not to have it on my MBP when I happen to write on it...
Thanx in advance.

Two Keyboards
If I have a computer at home with a wireless keyboard what would happen if I brought a second wireless keyboard in the room? Would the home computer start to sense the second keyboard and lose connection of the first keyboard, for even a short period of time? Thanks!

Answer
if the keyboard is of the same brand it may detect it may or may not. the computer would proably sense they keyboard but as long as you don't establish the connection with the 2nd keyboard you will be fine.

All Bluetooth products (whether it's an iPhone and your car's built-in Handsfree system, or a Bluetooth keyboard and a computer, or iPad) require a "pairing process" that is engaged in when the two items are first used together. You can choose whether a device "remember and automatically recognize and work together" - which typically you'd use with your computer and the Wireless Keyboard that was your main input device and was there by the computer 24/7. Alternatively, you can tell your device to "pair up" only when you tell them to do so with any particular bluetooth device.
If you are using the Wireless Bluetooth keyboard with your iMac and an iPad (for instance) you would probably tell the computer to automatically pair/connect with the bluetooth keyboard whenever it was in range or turned on. On the other hand, you would probably tell your iPad to pair with the Bluetooth Keyboard ONLY and IF ONLY you told it to do so. In reality it will ask you automatically if it detects the keyboard within range. You can then click "connect" or "do not connect" as you choose.
Apple's implementation of Bluetooth on their various devices all shares this ability. Again, Apple thinking it thru and "doing it right". (And no, I'm not an Apple Employee - just a long term Apple customer!) (smile!)
