As of Boot Camp 4.0, Windows XP is no longer supported. All new Mac's ship with Mountain Lion and therefore have the latest version of Boot Camp installed.
You can still use third party software such as "Parallels Desktop" to create a virtual machine within OSX and then install Windows XP there, but if you wan't to install Windows through Boot Camp you will need to purchase Windows 7.- Answered by Michael B

Is there a port for external speakers on a 13" MacBook Pro?

Best Answer
Yes. There is is, it is a 3.5mm jack. On the 13'' Macbook Pro's they have combined the Microphone Port and HeadPhone Port into one port. If you wanted to plug anything that makes the music or audio louder or in a different direction you would use the Headphones port.

If you want a server, Mac is probably not your best option unless you have a specific need to run Mac programs. Mac is a desktop computer. Even the Apple website itself uses a Linux-based server. Good server operating systems include Linux (CentOS or Red Hat), OpenBSD, NetBSD, and FreeBSD.

Can a I run a Macbook (Air or Pro) with two external Dell monitors
I need a laptop for work/home.
In the office I have two Dell Monitors that I use when my PC is docked face down.
I want to switch to Mac, but my company won't pay for new displays.
So would like to leverage existing displays at work...and run Mac laptop closed with an external keyboard viewing the desktop over the two displays. Is this possible?- Asked by Peter A from Newtown

What macbook best fits a (working) college student with diverse needs?
I have a 21.5" iMac that I bought in 2010 and a 16GB iPad 2. I am moving out of state to college in a major city, and will be attending classes and living downtown in a dorm.
I keep hearing how 13" are the best size for college students, as they are lightweight and basic. However, I have been earning a side income from photography (where I use photoshop & lightroom), and I would like to continue that in the new city. I'm also musician and songwriter, so it's very important I can run Logic (or garageband at the very least). I post videos for the music and do light video editing through iMovie (eventually I'd like to upgrade to final cut). I'd be using it for basic word processing as well.
One idea is that I can take my iMac and use my iPad for class with a keyboard since it's incredibly lightweight. Which I'm not sure how safe it is in a dorm. The downside of this, however, is that I like performing online concerts and a laptop would allow me to broadcast live shows around the city.
The 13" looks too small to me. Would a 15" be okay for photo editing? I'm so used to the 21.5" screen. Thought of maybe getting a 17" refurbished macbook as well. I can imagine that would be huge.
I'm a petite female so weight of the laptop is an issue, as anything heavy will be hard to carry around downtown and on public transportation.
Any suggestions?- Asked by Ashley S from Dallas

can i open .doc, .pst, .jpg, .mpg files on a mac?
I have a large file base on my pc and want to switch to mac. I have the typical files, pictures, movies, .crd (cardfiles), outlook mail (.pst), word files .doc, pdf files, .wav files, .tiff files, etc. All are backed up on a cloud server and could be downloaded to a zip or possibly other file manager. The most pc based files I can think of are slide show (motv) and label files.
I'm thinking about buying an imac but don't want to lock up my fairly large number of files.- Asked by Steven C from Hermosa Beach

Answer
Yes, sure you can. For pst, doc, ppt, xls and other MS Office files you have to get Ms office 2011 for Mac and you can open those files. For any media file you won't have any trouble. If you use specific software for certain tasks, labels for example, you have to see if there's a mac version of that software. I use everyday a Mac and a PC and everything is fine (except for 3dsMAX). Best of luck
