Does the new latest iPod Nano have any maximum volume level resrictions?
I have read reviews on previous iPod Nano versions that criticised the volume levels (they apparently don't go high enough to use outside where there is background noise). Upon browsing the internet it seems the European versions have a fairly low maximum volume setting due to some particular legislation set by Brussels.

Answer
sort of but not really -- it's complicated. The iPod touch 5th generation has a sync/charge cord with a special plug at one end that only fits ipod5, iPadMini, and maybe also iPhone5 (not sure about that last one). Presumably newer ipods and ipads will also use this new adapter plug. Anyhow, the other end of the cord is a standard USB plug. TO CHARGE YOUR IPOD, you can use this cord to charge and sync your iPod5 directly from your regular computer (if it's a portable/laptop, be sure it's plugged into its own charger before using it to charge your iPod), or for $20 you can buy an adaptor that accepts a USB plug at one end and plugs into a normal wall outlet at the other. TO SYNC YOUR IPOD WITH ITUNES on your computer, you plug it into your computer while iTunes is open. Your iTunes ID and password need to be the same across the two machines for syncing to work, of course. Whatever you have in iTunes that you want to add to the iPod, you can do via this synchronization. You can even create stuff (music files, pdf files, etc.) on your PC or iMac or MacBook and put them into iTunes and they can then be transferred to the hard memory on your iPod. Similarly, stuff that you've downloaded directly onto the iPod over WiFi can be transferred to the computer during this sync.
BUT -- there's not a simple straightforward way to use a USB connection to transfer stuff to or from the iPod5. If you can't do the transfer via this "sync" process. then you can't do it via USB. You can bring stuff onto the iPod5 via iCloud but of course you don't need a USB port to do that.
In other words, except for this special "sync with iTunes account" process, the answer is "no." If you include this sync process, then the answer is "yes." I.e., it's complicated!- Answered by Eve B from Boynton Beach

No iPods have AM radio capabilities out of the box, iPod touch 4th, or 5th generations have the capability to run Apples Latest Software and are definitely able to receive different local and world radio stations over Wi-Fi via app. These include FM AM as well as Police and Fire Stations. I Use TuneIn, your best bet for AM stations, but anything you cant get on TuneIn you can find on iHeartRadio. iPod Touch 2 and 3 also have the capability to do so, but I can not guarantee that it is going to be supported by developers for much longer. I'd recommend picking up a 4th gen off of eBay, craigslist or other sellers for used devices. They typically run around the same price as a new Nano for 8GBs Versions of 4th gens.

Best AnswerWell i have a 32Gb ipod and iPad, along with about 5500 pictures, and over 600 songs. if i go to my setting-general-usage, i have used about 3GB of music, and 3GB of photos. You mentioned that you are going to use it for a backup of these items... I have a very bad experience doing this. When you put anything on your ipod,iPhone ETC from your computer and it saves in other albums that "Camera Roll" it will not allow you to do anything with them. (Such as if your computer crashes and you want to put them off your ipod onto your computer) If you are going to be using this for backup of photos, i would go with something as an external HDD or flash drive to back these up. But if you are just going to be listening to music and viewing photos on this device and not using it fo backup, you will be completely fine.

Any iPod with built-in heart rate monitor?
I hate the idea of a separate iPod and heart rate monitor for the gym. Does anyone other than Motorola (I.e. Apple) make an iPod which links with a chest strap monitor to gauge heart rate in the gym. Seems like Apple could dominate Polar, whose watches and straps break all the time and it is one more device to carry. Only runners care about a pedometer, the rest of us serious non-runner athletes just want to monitor our heart rates without one more device to wear.

AnswerThere are 3rd party heart rate monitors out there that are able to pair with an iPhone or an iPod touch via bluetooth, and display their results/data to apps downloaded through the App Store. You can search the web or even the Apple Online Store for heart rate monitors and find a number of results for wireless heart rate monitors that are compatible with the iPhone or iPod touch.

will the ipod shuffle work with any ipod dock
My young grandaughter has a shuffle and would like to play it using a music dock. Is this possible?
- Asked by John P

AnswerThe Shuffle doesn't have the traditional 30-pin port nor the new Lightning port, so you won't be able to dock it that way. However, if the dock has an auxiliary input you can hook it up using a 3.5mm cable plugged into the headphone jack of the Shuffle. Many people use this in their cars as well if their car stereo includes a 3.5mm port but not a USB port or iPod dock.
