how do i know the generation number of my macbook air?

Bought a new Mac Air in Jan 2011, need a case and the decription says 2nd Generation. Not sure what generation mine is.

    Simply check the mousepad , if you have a Trackpad button at the bottom of the trackpad and it's 13" then it's 1st Gen , if you have the multi touch glass trackpad then you have the 2nd generation :)

  • If you have the 11" macbook air then it is second generation

    If you have a 13" macbook air and its new rather than refurbished or second hand then it will also be second generation

    Does your keyboard light-up?
    What kind of hinge does it have, and what color?
    Does it have a thunderbolt port or a mini display port?

  • I just got mine last month as well. If you bought it brand new from the Apple Store, then yes your MacBook Air should be the second generation.
