Which generations of the iPod Nano products will the iTouch 4th generation connect with? Which versions require the universal dock adap?

For example, if you have a radio or speakers for a prior generation of the nano, will you require the adapter?

    with every new generation of each iPod, comes a new design, thus requiring a new dock adapter to fit in the universal dock. to answer your question: ALL versions require the dock adapter, because there is a different dock adapter specifically designed for a particular iPod model. except of course for the iPod shuffle because it does not have a 30-pin connector.
